both roberto and his own fossil archive label continue to go from strength to strength. roberto has consistently delivered at dj bookings that have seen him return time and again to the likes of tresor and fabric, while the label has fast become a favourite in dj boxes and amongst techno heads. the label closed 2016 on a high with its first set of remixes from two techno legends, sterac and rolando. and now for the first release of 2017 roberto is thrilled to draft in the refined skills of fachwerk�s roman lindau. roberto has of course released on fachwerk in the past and been featured on the bill on more than one occasion when the berlin label have taken over berghain, so roman is a fitting and very welcome addition to his uk imprint. teaming up for �nerinea trinodosa� on the a-side, roman and roberto�s production styles complement one another perfectly on this solid peak-time offering, bringing a depth and power that continues the fossil archive dedication to raw and unfaltering beats. roberto then goes it alone for �triage� on the b-side, a track which was already featured on alan fitzpatrick�s recent fabric mix cd. with its tough tribal sound and deep bass, there�s some serious funk in the groove, completing another essential release from the fossil archive camp.

massimiliano pagliara debuts on ostgut ton with his new ep, time and again. born and raised in the deep south of italy massimiliano pagliara made his way to berlin in 2001, quickly diving headfirst into the german capital�s club scene (particularly berghain�s predecessor club, ostgut) until he started djing in 2003. by the time of his joining with ostgut booking agency in october 2015 massi had already constantly delivered � the dj and producer has left a strong mark on house music throughout the years with energetic, playful and deep sets behind the decks, two acclaimed solo albums on live at robert johnson and various collaboration projects. his residency at panorama bar therefore was a no-brainer � but the musical link by one of house music�s finest with the club�s label was still missing. now massi steps up with four new tracks and his first release on ostgut ton.

bergen�s christian tilt returns to norwegian label ploink with his debut album �alt skjedde jæla fort� this september. norwegian christian tilt�s dedication to techno over the last two decades has securely placed him in high ranks to play alongside the likes of the zenker brothers, margaret dygas and ploink label head thomas urv at clubs such as berghain, jaeger and Østre - all in the last year. here though we see christian tilt make a return to ploink for a second time with a five track lp comprised of an intricate cross-section of syncopated rhythms and dubbed-out techno. �dos were the days� slowly builds hi-hats and punchy kick drums, before a deep-synth melody drives the composition forward. up next is the stripped back �btl� that combines otherworldly aesthetics with a steady bass rattle throughout, before the gritty �a visit from france� unleashes a dark low-end, murky synth drones and frantic pad sequences. a relentless 9 minute affair titled �i only work late nights� then swells and pulsates over an unremitting beat, before �Øreverk� rounds off the package with frenzied clangs, muted hits and rhythmic percussion.

we finally welcome one of our favourite producers in full format: p.e.a.r.l. lately, the berlin-based spanish producer has been making big noise in the scene, playing in clubs all over the world, including berghain. for this release he delivers three original tracks plus a oscar mulero remixe.

farr has a diverse catalogue, with three well-received releases on turbo as well as records with dsnt, leisure system and power vacuum. few producers can claim to have remixed tiga and been remixed by truss.
though farr has an extensive history with bloc., this will be his first outing on the label, a release that incorporates sounds that both bloc and joe are famed for.
the first track, �rpm� features prominently in the bloc festival trailer and is the soundtrack to the 2016 weekender. hissing high hats and an atmospheric baseline quickly develop into an explosive anthem designed to get feet moving. �rolling and thatching� conveys an immediate punch of 90�s acid, followed by techno heavy �workout three� with crunching beats and an unremitting delivery worthy of the berghain dance floor.

a-ton is a new edition and platform of berghain s in-house imprint ostgut ton, focussing on ambient, archive and alternative music, differing from the club-focussed records on the main label. furthermore the first a-ton offering � chronicles | � marks the start of a series from luke slater s the 7th plain moniker, with remastered, previously released and unheard archive material.

work them records founder spencer parker presents the first in a trilogy of releases as brotherhood. the brotherhood moniker was originally coined as a way of differentiating parker s berghain appearances from his panorama bar appearances, hence why this series under the alias will be concentrated on techno. thudding kicks and eerie atmospherics pave the way in chapter one - a physical techno number that warps and changes throughout its almost 8 minute duration. chapter two then employs a twisted melody that works alongside a remorseless low-end throb until chapter three concludes the package with punchy percussion and echoing effect

driving, rumbling techno beats and soulful vocals. all tracks stand in contrast though they don�t lose their relation to each other. positive vibes have the potential to develop into their complete opposite after re-listening. sounds fade through industrial ruins, always picked up again by vocal snippets. satanic choir meets berghain.
redredred from muenster (germany) is coming to tell a story with his debut ep. shifts between deep rough techno tracks, warm house tunes and ambient pieces like a master. still, other musical influences are present as well. significant here is his distinct sound design. constantly revealing new elements almost like a nightly walk through an empty city under a foggy blanket. this ep is more than a travel companion as it delivers tracks that are definitely suitable for a club.

answer code request picks up where he left off with his album (code, ostgut ton, 2014) and 12� (calm down, mdr, 2015): with the neume ep the berghain resident offers three new tracks, meandering between restrained club contexts and brittle break beats, machinery and futurist soulfulness. the eponymous track �neume� starts off on a with shuffling rhythms atop a heavy kick, soon caught up by first surging then predominant drone motifs, flashing bleeps and piercing strobe sounds. �meta� on b1 clocks in instantly without any build-up: its rhythm section sets the tone with broken beats while acr slowly carves out more musical detail and textures: subtle command vocals from the machine room, swelling synth pads and other chilling, athmospheric means are subsequently being added until the track�s break where the emphasis shifts towards the kick, pads and synth melodies until the track�s sustained, smooth outro. �vis� on b2 is the ep�s most protruding track: classic uk garage shuffle rhythms and amen breaks are contrasted by a funky kick and dreamful pads, intertwined with additional sparse percusion, layered with what in the first instance sounds like chirping birds but then like sparking wires. answer code request continues what he does best: combining the warm human touch with chilled alienated aesthetics.

london modular alliance is the raw and unpredictable music project from the uk�s best known, dedicated modular synth shop london modular. its members simon lynch, phil ventre and gavin pykerman met through a shared passion in modular synthesisers. impromptu gatherings and jams soon turned into live performances at clubs, festivals and museums. from the hushed environs of the tate modern and v&a to vast sweatboxs such as fabric, bloc, freerotation, weather and berghain, london modular clearly have a flair for all things modular. this year sees a return to bloc weekender as well as new adventures at festivals such as dekmantel. they create an intense live show with a huge setup of self-assembled modular gear. every set starts with one small looping beginning � a patch � and is expanded into a deep sonic landscape. with the use of cables they build unexpected circuits and explore the power of pure electronic sounds without the use of a digital software infrastructure. no laptops, no button pushing, everything is created on the spot using modular synthesizers and is based on live improvisations. overall lma tries to keep its live sets in the dark: unrecorded, off the internet and only for those who are present in the moment. a clear break with the capture-all mentality of the internet age.

apotek records takes a conversant and pliable approach to this dialectic ep. jerome sydenham opens the technological fray with the title track dialectic. deep swinging rhythms coupled with a deeply rooted dub vocal truly define its essential neoteric sensibilities. jerome sydenham s remix of macroisms drone is a prime example of take no prisoners berghain techno pure rumpus. the b-side introduces the sophomore single from hot new berlin talent non reversible. the track kuro is absolutely unapologetic in its discharge of nebulous dark thunder techno. powerful! on the last cut, jerome sydenham gets back behind the splicing desk, breaks out the razor blades and deftly edits the echoplex classic pitch break. the results is transcendent hypnotic techno bliss.

psychedelic relics is the debut release launching tb arthur s own (312) label. this four-track ep comprises unreleased material initially revealed and reveled during arthur s acclaimed live sets at berghain and smart bar in 2015.

�prÉvision #02� is the second compilation and third vinyl of forecast label, french record label originated in 2012. it gathers six house, electronica and techno tracks in varied styles for various artists. the original idea was to make artists exchanges ideas together to create tracks that would exactly define each one�s identity. while cheaper shepherd�s �weasels� show again their shiny and catchy vintage house, romain play explores several music genders through a train trip across jazz, psychedelic rock and house. the new comer roman s releases his first track ever, showing his talent for groove and minimal house. on the b-side, d°c, breilitz and sir squi explore three kinds of techno. first track of this side, �erebus� shows a kompakt-like new wave but club-oriented techno. �raw interference� could without any doubt be played at berghain. last track, �(crashed)� is on the psychedelic slope of techno. it uses a sitar, to ends the compilation on a shinier note.

die beiden remixe transferieren moderats erste singleauskopplung auf ganz unterschiedliche dancefloors: paul woolford, einer der großen britischen djs und producer, der mit seinem aufsehen erregenden projekt special request die unerbittlich hämmernden breakbeats der frühen neunziger in die gegenwart holte, strukturiert das stück mit einer extrem harten, gebieterischen bassdrum entschieden neu. den gesang präsentiert er sehr dosiert, umso effektiver aber nach dem break. die breakbeat loops und präzis gesetzten klangsplitter vom original geben dem track einen elektrisierenden funk, der ihn für bass music- und house-djs gleichermaßen unverzichtbar macht. der berliner answer code request gehört dem künstlerstamm des berghain-labels ostgut ton an. er geht den entgegengesetzten weg und entwickelt seinen remix weniger aus dem groove, als der atmosphäre und emotionalität des tracks. fetzen von apparats stimme orchestriert er mit packenden hooklines und wunderschönen synthesizern, die das stück zu einer der stärksten technonummern der saison machen.

during the last three years a new name has been making waves at ostgut ton and berghain: berlin born, raised and based producer kobosil made his debut with a remix of barker & baumeckers silo (ostgut ton, 2013), completely unknown at the time, he has quickly earned his stripes as a dj on the clubs main floor, eventually becoming a resident at berghain. following up on five subsequent 12 releases and kobosils first live sets, his debut album sees him covering yet new ground in the form of a full length release.

to coincide with the full remix album�s unveiling on cd, the exquisite reworkings of all i think about is death and why you feel so low by techno heavyweights radio slave and function respectively, have been singled out for release on vinyl. the former bears all the hypnotic hallmarks of a radio slave classic: incrementally menacing percussive lines woven with the heart wrenching vocal chants of the original over an epic 12 minutes. at once understated and emphatic, the tenor is deepened in the extreme on an ambient atmos version. berghain resident, function, on the other hand treats claustrophobias flagship why you feel so low with a delicate touch: he retains the buoyant hook of the original, underlying it with a thunderous, reverberating bassline, handclaps for days, and a beat tailor-made for only the biggest and brightest sound systems.

death drive is a peak-time electronic club track that features eddie peake, prem sahib and george henry longly (anal house meltdown) on both production and vocals, and co-produced by long time collaborator tim goalen, inspired by and invoking the heady dance floors of their anal house meltdown parties, the pounding excitement of long nights at berghain, the legendary berlin club, and intense but fleeting romantic trysts facilitated by clubs and parties. resident berghain dj and producer fiedel has created a remix that will also feature on the release.

on the a-side �dissolve� sets its sinews to march on this taut, tough and punchy number. �radial clicles� then reins in the muscle a bit in favour of a more skulking, spectral slow-build. meanwhile on the b-side, �stone storage� sends cool cymbals and crunchy hats on a sinuous, calculated romp. leaving �avoid reality� to close in noisy, bombastic fashion. but watch out�this one�s a bit of a tease.
